This brings up a topic near and dear to my heart as I am about to embark
on writing my specialist's lion share of thank you notes. Oy...the
food. I have given it away to neighbors, the woman who cleans my room
nightly (don't forget her!!), my mother, my mother in law, and there is
still food left over. If I ate what I received I would weigh at least
20 pounds more than I do now, lol. How I would love to not receive
food. My favorite gifts are the little gift certificates to bookstores,
starbucks, blockbuster, and so on. I also enjoy gifts kids make. I was
majorly impressed by a gift my teaching partner got from 5 of her kindy
moms....an american express check for 50 bucks, along with a note that
they do NOT WANT A THANK YOU NOTE!!! How thoughful. Plants are nice,
I mean, after teaching 24 years, how many candles, soaps, and cookies
can you handle? I wish there was a way for our parents guild to gently
redirect our parents in the way Emily Post does. But not the food,
imho.
