I believe that when you are using the aluminum in the water stuff and a
variety of brand names which essentially do the same thing, you are
really doing a reverse silver-plating. This is ok if you have sterling,
but if you are using a silver plated piece, you'd better do the old
polish techniques like Wright's silvercream which are very gentle and
use more elbow grease.
