I completely agree!!! I use the terns "landscape" (introduced in second grade during our landscape unit) and "portrait" (introduced in third grade during our portrait unit). I make it a point to always use the appropriate art vocabulary word. No..they don't get it the first time...or the second..or the tenth...but...about the hundreth time....<smile> They start to catch on!!! I always praise the student who uses appropriate vocabulary when discussing something or asking a question or when making a comment...then I get LOTS of appropriate art vocabulary!!! Yippeee!!!!
