radial design

I'm about to teach a unit on radial design to my fifth graders. Has anyone done this? I want them to design their own "rose window" and use the ScratchArt stained glass paper to do it. It's the new paper with a thick waxy coating and transparent colors underneath. Any tips would be welcome.
