Wendy,

Frank Frazetta was one of the best Sci-Fi and fantasy artist of the 70's
If you want earlier, look up Avon Fantasy Readers on Google. They are
pulps from the 40's and had great art work. There are some great books on
covers of those times. I have one at home but I can't remember the name
of it. Also look up Pulps on Google.
