kwanzaa masks

The music teacher asked if i could coordinate a project with her and i
want to be involved. She said kwanzaa masks would be a neat thing to
do. I know a little about kwanzaa but nothing about kwanzaa masks. Are
they simply african masks or do they have a special connection to the
holiday?
Does anyone know?
