For those of you who asked, here's more info about making a deckle edge to
your manuscripts...a deckle edge...slightly rough and uneven border.
"Use a ruler and pencil to draw straight lines, as faint as possible, as
guides for a rectangle around your letter. Turn your ruler over so that the
edge is not actually resting on the paper and dip a clean fine paintbrush in
water. Run the brush along the four lines of the edge of the rectangle,
wetting the paper. Allow the water to soak into the paper, depending on how
thick it is, this may take from 10 seconds to a minute. Do not allow the
water to dry, though, and before it does either gently pull the paper apart
along the dampened line, or tear the paper along a ruler. While the paper is
still wet, gently push in some of the torn edge so that it looks a little
less even."
