OH, okay. We're already "there" as 1987 or thereabouts was the end of
permanent status for teachers' certification. I came to CA after that
period from Fla/N.Carolina with certificates from these two states but I had
to re-certify in CA with a 5th year of school while teaching. That was a
barrel of laughs! I also have to re-new my certificate every 5 years with
150 hrs. of professional growth but I can do that easily with attending
workshops, NAEA, CAEA, school committee member like Site Council, etc.
Personally I think it's a good thing for teachers to pay attention to their
prof. growth. The bummer is the paperwork but even that is bearable. Thanks
