I would say you have no chance of hoof and mouth or mad cow disease from
bones in class. Mad cow disease passes when soft tissues of an infected
animal are fed to another animal--don't let your kids chew on the bones!!
Ag depts. in the US tract animal diseases very well. If there had been a
kill off in your area by hoof N Mouth, you would have heard about it, and
carcasses would have been burned/destroyed to prevent its spread.
Your students are in way more danger wandering out into your lawn or
sitting in class with spray bottle mad janitors. Sid
