Dear Martha,
As I mentioned in my earlier response, I taught 30 years in inner city
schools. I didn't mention that I had to move twice. The first school was a
nightmare. One year we had 150 false fire alarms and dozens of other working
stopping things. I went to another middle school and it was worse until a
new adminstrator made drastic changes to improve it. I got the the
opportunity to transfer to a high school and found it so much easier even
though it was in a worse area. The kids were still very needy, the
administration wasn't great, but I seemed to have found my niche. I agree
that you should move, and consider trying another level. You shouldn't have
to take so much abuse.
