I can relate! I have to do the same at my public middle school here in
northern California (near San Francisco). Besides having multiple levels of
art (if any) from our elementary system, we also get many transient kids
from other parts of the world who have had art education. I've learned to
just begin at the beginning with all of my 6th graders. What else can you
do?

This is also the reason for there being such a shortage of art teaching
positions in my district and others around me. The only positions are for
mid. and high schools and you either have to be in the right place at the
right time (as in my case) or someone has to die and leave a vacancy.
Pleasant thought, hum? Toodles....Bunki
