Elementary Art Teachers- Bunki

In reading a response from Bunki to the stress issue
it was mentioned that that they do not have art
teachers in the elementary level. I was just
wondering how many other districts are in the same
boat. Not having art specialists in the elementary
schools makes it difficult to co-ordinate any type of
consistent program delivery. Many of the teachers in
our school are all over the place with the teaching of
art ( or any of the Arts). It is mostly "Do you have
a great idea to try" .. without any consideration to
teaching art concepts or following a planned program.
How do other districts handle this in their schools? I
have spoken to people with deaf ears in administration
that the only way to establish any type of program
that does justice to art is to have specialist
teachers in the schools. Any opinions here or what
type of things are being done for elementary art teachers.
