In this season of giving, and prompted by the recent discussion re:
skulls, I thought you may like to know that it is possible to make an
Anatomical Gift from a Living Donor to a medical school(department of
anatomy.) You can also at the same time make provisions for eye and kidney
donations. Both my parents (now deceased) and I have done this. When my
mother died in 1983, the School of Dentistry at OSU (I think different
departments take turns) did a beautiful memorial service for the families of
persons who made their bodies the gifts from the previous year. The
auditorium stage had a table with a candle for each donated person. The
candles were lit when each name was read. There were over a hundred
individuals that year. It was a heartfelt sight.
Peace to you all for the coming year. Have a safe and happy
holiday break.
