Thoughts on symbols was RE: Skull and satanism

This brings up 2 points I've often debated with other people. 1 is how
people misinterpret what they don't choose to understand. For example
during my training this woman got on her high horse declaring she would
not allow any Halloween in her classroom, and that she would inform the
kids they were worshiping Satan if they had anything to do with
Halloween. When the professor did not challenge her, I argued back. I
first suggested she confine her teaching to religious schools, not
public. I also informed her that Halloween has Roman Catholic and
Pre-Christian roots in the Hispanic and Celtic cultures. That we (RC)
believe that the dead are released from purgatory, food is put out to
honor the ancestors, and costumes are used to scare off evil spirits.
She said, "Well obviously you are not Christian (Please note in the
Bible Belt Roman Catholic = Idol worshiping non-Christians as a general
rule) Then things went downhill. After class two women thanked me for
standing up to the bigot. The professor informed me that I shouldn't
engage this woman in this type of argument during class, because it
didn't do any good. I shrugged and quoted, "All it takes for evil to
Triumph is for good men to do nothing. I have no intention of listening
to that vile woman without confronting her". It was a moot point, she
dropped out.

The second point is we can not allow evil people to corrupt symbols of
good (Celtic Cross) or neutral objects (skulls). I have been informed by
good intentioned people that my Celtic Cross is a symbol of evil. I
simply look them in the eye and tell them it was a symbol of good long
before either the IRA or the Order (a white supremacist group) tried to
corrupt it. I will not just let it go. They can't have it. BTW Isn't it
ironic that the Order and its ilk maintain that the Celtic People are
subhuman and that Catholic Church is a cover for Satan, and at the same
time they try to use a symbol of our culture and religion for their
evil?

Donald,

You know, they are allowed to wear the cross! I never thought of it
that
way! I like to stir things up too, I'll keep you posted! I'll probably
get
fired, but I don't really like it here anyways!
