I have a written application to take A.P. art and I read them and take who I
want. They sometimes lie and are lazy so by semester I boot them out and
they must take independent study or? nothing. They don't like me to toss
them, so they work and I require a sketchbook as well as assignments, and
work on their concentration project. Some of them are producing a work every
week or sooner. They will be able to choose the works that they send.

If the previous teacher sent you these children tell them he/she is not here
now, and to get to work. This is a serious class and that we are going to
get college credit while in high school. They will know that high school is
very different from college and they need to be prepared.

They are hard to work with when they are seniors because they think that they
are so cool and art is a game. I feel you pain but be strong and the ones
who will be successful will inspire those of the future. I have had great
success since 1986 with only 2 two's given. This has helped as they see the
previous year and how they attack their work.

I require work form them according to some project ideas and then they work
on their concentration projects. We do cut up abstracts, mono prints
(createx), self portraits, reliefs (with cardboards and putty), color scheme
problems, collographs (nonobjective), small still life with conte crayon and
toned paper, and som eothers.
