I project I do came from an article in an old Arts and Activities.
First we practice drawing an x with a line down the middle for a six sided
snow flake. Add all kinds of shapes and lines to make lots of varities of
snowflakes. Practice first with pencil on scrap paper or sketchbooks.
Next, using white oil pastel, draw on white paper several of your practice
snowflake ideas. Using tissue paper in cool colors, "paint" all over the
paper. Paint by laying the tissue on the paper, paint with a watercolor brush
and water.Remove the tissue paper and discard. Stains the paper (also the
fingers!) and viola! the snowflakes show up. Finish by drawing some
snowflakes with glue and adding glitter, or sponge a few extra using a
snowflake sponge and white tempera paint.
I had my studio class draw on round paper. They turned out beautiful! Janet
