I have used linoleum blocks for the last couple times I've taught
graphics/printmaking because my department head thinks that this is the only
pure way to do this. I have been an art director for years but only teaching
for 5 years. Now that I have tenure I'm thinking of only using soft cut or
one of the comparable products. I'll tell you why. It takes so long to
produce each one of the printmaking processes...whether it's a woodcut or
drypoint or linoleum block. By using a soft cut process we will save so much
time and every year at least one student gets injured. The linoleum blocks
have to be heated to be at all plyable.I just don't think it's worth it. I
use linoleum block prints...preferably speedball. The tubes are the best.
If you print on tee shirts you have to use oil base. Do you have any other
questions? Eileen
