I was looking for an activity for our Middle School Holly Days activity
afternoon next Friday. Thought we'd make snowflakes as we are all yearning
for the white stuff here in WI (this is the latest ever we've gone without
measurable snow!). Anyway, this is a pretty amazing site. Anyone have any
varaitions on the snowflake theme??? Marcia ---

Hi. Last week my mid. schoolers made 6-sided snowflakes out of copy paper,
ironed them, and hung them from the ceiling for the Christmas faculty
meeting in my art portable. The second day (before the meeting) we used
large green (diff. shades of green actually) construction paper 12x18" and
made bigger 6-sided snowflakes. After they were cut out, we folded them
back up accordion-style, glued them, and they made sculptural 6-sided,
free-standing Christmas trees as table decorations for the meeting. Lots of
oohs and aahs. So easy.
Last year someone on the list mentioned making snowflakes out of tortillas,
sprinkle sugar on them and bake them. I thought about making those 6-sided
Christmas tree sculptures and baking them. Interesting idea that I never
followed up on. I've still got the directions stuff somewhere around here.
Toodles.....Bunki
