Yes I understand what Lowenfeld has to say. What I am most concerned with are
the students that I am sure can grow in their art skills but refuse to do so.

continue to draw the sun int he corner and neckless people because that is
the "comfortable" way to draw. No effort needed. If a fifth grader still
draws as
he did in kindergarten there is something wrong with his development and I
feel some encouragement is needed. We don;t let them linger on a first grade
level in reading ability. I am not pushing reality as much as trying to
teach
awareness of the world around us. Lowenfeld didn;t have state and national
