Welll I have thought about that too but it seems also a reflection on my
teaching ability to have kids that draw like that into their late elementary
middle school years
and their excuse will always be - "my art teacher never showed me how"!!!"
If I compare it to handwriting or mathmatical skills don;t they have to build
on their
skills each year there - why can;t we expect them to build on their art -
perception
skills??? Aaaarghhhhh - it is so frustrating! I wish I had had an art
teacher like
me that cared so much to build my skills - I was a crummy artist. all
through school
my art was never hung up - I felt really bad. because I didn;t know
anything. Didn;t really
learn anything about art till college. and then was misssing so many skills I
had to
work doubly hard to fill in. When a fifth grader who has a neck and round
arms
draws a neckless person with stick arms I can;t help get upset!!!!!!!!! LOL
