Hi cyber pals, I want to share something really cool with you all. I had a student get a piece of his artwork framed, matted and sent to Washington DC to be forever displayed in a corporate office there. I was offered the challenge of submitting a work of art that would be awarded $100 and used at a banquet honoring workers for this company. I kept my Comp l's on the current assignment and told my ll's and lll's to compose a piece for this challenge. I told the students that even if their work was not chosen District competition was comming up and their work would be submitted for that. Many of the pieces were fantastic (a few were really bad---but bless their hearts they tried hard!) and I was very proud of the research, craftsmanship, and energy put into it. Ezra's piece was done in colored pencil on 9"x11" of a young women in the 18th century reading. She was facing to the side and done in a basic yellow/purple color scheme. Very smart looking. Ezra said he was so surp!
rized at all the colores he saw using basically the two complimentaries. His lesson last year on complimentary colors was excellent too--in fact he used yellow/purple in tempra. I always keep community/school involvement high on the priority list and it is neat when something like this comes around for the students---and they rise to the occasion. Of the ones that were not selected 3 made district, 1 went on to state (An abstract!!) Anyway, thought I'd share, enjoy the weekend! Cindi
