Well, I guess I have not written this out in a while, so I will do my
best. My K-6 students only recieve S,N,U in specials, but we also have
to grade on skill level...neat one, behavior, follows directions,
completes projects...I am not making this up...
I participated in an Arts Assesment program here in Ohio, pretty cool
stuff...and has since manipulated all of my grades into rubrics, etc.
The students know what exactly I am looking for in their work...and also
know what it takes to get a 4, 3, 2, 1...or even a 0. But in
relationship to my grade cards, I have made 4=S+, 3=s, 2=N, 1=U...and no
work=0...
As for taking grades, I have finally learned, I only take about 1 grade
per week...may be 3-4 grades per project...I have 500 students and do
NOT take work home...then I am never responsible for loss/damage...some
things we do I do not assess...hopefully this makes sense. I will try
and explain better later have a class...
