hey yall,
this is gail in texas. i'm getting ready to teach an AP Studio Art class =
next fall. am going to conferences, etc. just wanted to ask if any of =
yall teach it, how is your class structured? how many works do you =
require and how often. my kids work so slow, even though they know they =
will fail if things aren't on my desk on the due date. they'd rather =
talk. want the acclaim with none of the action.parents want the AP class =
but don't want precious to fail. i have wanted this class for 8 years. =
but, now that it's here, can see nothing but a vast savannah of =
deficiency slips and notes from parents in my mailbox to call about =
"precious baby's" progress.=20
have to admit i'm scared...of failing to make my dream class work, of =
not helping students succeed, of pissing off parents and of the added =
responsibility.
they also are talking about making me the fine arts magnet director for =
my campus, making me art dept. chairman, and all that on top of the =
other 5 (different preps) classes i will be teaching.
pardon the moan.
any advice would be appreciated,
thanks and blessings to all,
gail
