I am an art education student and we have been discussing rubrics in class.
We have come to realize that the word "creativity" is so broad that it seems
to just be a place-holder - what does the word REALLY mean? I have decided
to leave it out of my rubrics and have more specific ideas relating to the
project. If the desire is a place-holder to give them some extra points,
then replace it with "effort" or something. We all gather ideas from seeing
other artist's work, so if the definition of "creativity" is being
innovative, then this may not be the best thing - we all take ideas and
manipulate them and change them - After all, painters have been taking
ideas/scenes from nature and changing the way it looks for years!!!
