Platform Wars! Oh no!

I seldom chime in on platform wars, but some of the comments lately have
been provoking, if not subtly offensive.

First of all, Mac's are for creative people? I beg your pardon! Using PC's
makes all the rest of us creative people chopped liver? I don't think so!!

I think an apt metaphor for the world of Mac's and PC's is cars; automatic
transmissions or stick shifts. If you just want to drive, use as Mac. If
you want a sense of mastery and control, use a PC!

As for Mac's being easier to trouble shoot and PC's requiring techie help.
HAH! I find Mac's a giant pain to trouble-shoot. I can always figure out
at least three ways to trouble-shoot a PC; and I'm not very techie.

As for file management; is there any on a Mac? PC's teach students a lot of
transferable skills about organization and hierarchy.

I think that the platform you first use is often the preferred one. I
started with PC's when I had a district office position. I have taught
computer graphics on imacs. I can do both, but prefer the PC. Add into
that the cost of PC's versus Mac; PC's get my money!

As for software, almost all really popular software is dual platform now.

I've noticed that most "platform war" discussions are started by Mac people.
Could they be feeling defensive and threatened? Gee, when mac's don't have
much of a market share; maybe so!

Just my 2 cents worth!
