Last year someone (Bunki?) had a great perspective lesson, that my sixths
really enjoyed. Use 1 and/or 2 point perspective to draw a variety of
rectangular solids on the page, then draw elipses on them to represent
'windows.' Then draw a snake, bean stalk or some rope-like object to wind in
and out of these windows. We used colored pencils. Turned out very well, and
it was great practice for perspective. One advantage of this project was
that it was appropriate for artists at different levels of understanding.
Those students who struggled were able to complete a successful piece by
concentrating on one or two forms, while those who understood perspective
better were free to create wonderfully intricate drawings that included a
dozen or more forms. Thank you, whoever you were, who showed us this plan
last year!
