This was actually a very small grant.. The most that could be requested was
$500 and they were very specific that this was not a challenge to see how
close you could get to $500 without going over.
It was from an organization within our district called "foundation for
excellence" that funds innovative student and teacher projects.
I have two computers in my classroom--one provided by my school through
Title I funds and one provided by the district through technology money (had
to do training to "prove" I could use it. I have a color inkjet printer, and
27" color digital television that is hooked up to one of the computers as an
alternative projection device, both "earned" through the district. I have a
scanner, speaker system, microphone, and VCR that I have provided myself.
For software, I have Bryce, Poser, Paint Shop Pro, Alien EyeCandy 4000,
Xenofex and Adobe GoLive and LiveMotion. I have received these through
grants, budget and personal purchases.
I have another large grant out ($5000) through the districts tech department
(I qualified by finishing their required training) that I'm keeping my
fingers crossed for, and which you'll hear if I receive it. (I did more
research for this grant than any other I've ever done)
I hope this answers the questions. I'm building my computer graphics program
slowly but surely. I've tried for years to get into one of our districts
comp. graphics positions, but they would rather hire from without the
district. So rather than waiting, I started building my own program.
I've been trying to talk my wife into moving to a different
district/town/state so I can get a position that I would be happier in.
Maybe one of these years I'll be successful.
