I think what you are referring to are grade levels that a lesson relates to,
or that a person teaches. Sometimes people refer to a range, like, "the
lesson works for grades k - 3," or, "I teach grades k-5." K, is
kindergarten (ages 5/6), 1 is first grade (ages 6/7), 2 is second grade
(ages 7/8) etc.
