One project we did was drawing like an Egyptian (figures) and hieroglyphics
on paper. Then we filled styrofoam meat containers with plaster. When they
were dry, the kids transferred their drawings onto the plaster by placing the
drawing on top, and with a small nail, pressed dots into it. Then they
painted the designs with water color. Gave the look of pyramid walls. Maybe
this could be done on a smaller scale for ornaments?

Or clay pots with simple geometric shapes, clay hippos painted turquoise,
lotus blossoms, small canopic jars (salt and peppers??), a water clock?
