My podiatrist gave me the orthotics. I use them when wearing shoes that don't
provide adequate arch support such as dressier shoes. I forgot about those in
my earlier post since I am seldom seen in anything that looks like a dress
shoe anymore. I fervently believe that all my problems go back to the
beginning years of my career when dresses and heels were required for all
female teachers. I have a narrow foot (4A toe and 5A heel). Try finding dress
shoes for that foot under $50.00 to $75.00 in 1969! And on a teacher's
salary. I once had a very kind and concerned Swedish doctor tell me that I
should have my shoes made. He said that if I didn't, my feet were going to
give me a lot of trouble someday. That was about 1979. Boy was he right.
Boy, you can tell school has started and we are back on those darn hard
floors again.
