I would like to support Woody on the digital photography issue. I have a
brand new classroom. I have a darkroom large enough to set up six work
stations. Notice the verb tense. I have no darkroom equipment. I could have
all the computer technology I wanted. So I teach photography with digital
cameras and PhotoShop. I would like to teach the traditional process but I am
not bent about it. After all when someone figured out how to put paints in
tubes, artists stopped grinding and mixing their own. Eventually. I am sure
they had a few discussions such as these.:-)) Good photography is in the
composition and that is just as possible with a digital as with an SLR. the
darkroom is now contained in my computers and smells a whole lot better. We
picked up two Scholastic awards with digital photography last year. I would
like to set up that darkroom but I would not be adverse to using the space
for something else.
