I just got back from the beginning of the year in service at the high
school I teach at in Berkeley, California.

During the faculty group sharing time when we discussed the school's
philosophy and how it related to our individual departments,the art
department was asked to create a visual representation of the things that
were being shared and discussed in the group.

We created an spontaneous mural in response the information being shared by
the other departments.

This was truly a "first" experience for me. I have never worked in an
environment that encouraged the visual artists to do what they do best
during a meeting...draw... A school and leadership group that encouraged,
promoted and valued the visual language of art. It was just plain awesome!
