I have a lottery on the first day, the prizes are chairs in my room. As
students enter
I hand them a number and they must locate the seat. it's mostly fair and random
I do tend to hold some numbers and deal from the bottom of the deck if I think
I see
a need. I have eight tables with (hopefully) only 3 students at each. Each
table is named
after a famous women artist. Their storage areas and notebooks are identified
by those
eight artists. Any thing to keep their minds on track. When they complain I
just respond,
"Don't you name your furniture at home ?" "I do, we have sofa, table, etc."
