Polychromatic??? question

I am writing up a lesson plan for pasting 1" squares cut from cereal
boxes, that are sorted by color, and then pasted on a big sheet of
posterboard from left to right light colors to darker ones, in this light
to dark blend. I need a word to describe what the heck I just did....
polychromatic comes to mind, but I think there is something else that
better describes it. And don;t say "rainbow" !! :o) Any ideas?
