Tracing is about as unoriginal as you can get in drawing. What makes
tracing a tracing of a tracing so original?

On the other hand, there's artistic decision making involved in every
tracing--what to leave out, where to simplify... not nearly as simple as
might be thought....

this kind of tracing can go the other way too--start with a simple drawing
(or clipart or quilt block) then trace and change something each time you
trace --and then embellish the embellishments!
