I tried posting this in the morning but didn't realize you can't
post the first word "help" in the subjet.
I am helping a friend who has not taught in a public school before.
She is going to have around 600 students K-6th(next year they are
and then 8th the following year). She is teaching art and has taught
for 7 years in the small christian school across the street. She is
used to class sizes of 9 to 20. What can she expect from a public
grade school- Particularly when it comes to discipline, and strategy.
I have been listening the past few weeks to conversations on room
set up,discipline and tolerance(from spring) effective use of
strategy in this area(and I do like the velcro "Art" idea). I've
been printing them out for when I meet with her on Wednesday.
Anything else you may think she should know. The area is kind of run
down & semi inner city kids not much money to go around.(Oh she is
rather quiet too!) We are okay on lessons.
Reply quickly if you can.
She doesn't have a computer but I can help her if you have advise.
