Hi all,
I just had to jump in to this report talk. I wish we had the time to do
something other than a report, but with new classes every 6 weeks , finding the
time is a challenge ( especially since when it comes down to days, they really do
not get a whole 6 weeks!). The kids do this as homework since time is so tight. I
redid my report rubric for my 6th and 7th graders this year to resemble a
detective's report. There is even a little drawing of a detective snooping around
on the report , which will now be called an investigation. I don't think it will
hurt the kids to do some writing in conjunction with an art class. In fact,
sometimes my students who do not have the strongest art skills, seem to really
take off on writing about their artist. And our school district is pushing for
writing across the curriculum. Well I hope this disguise helps make writing a
little more fun if they think of it in another manner. Can't hurt to try!
