I teach approximately 630 students in grades 3-5. I see 25 classes a week for
45 minutes per class. I have a 45 minute planning time each day. There is a 5
minute space between classes. I have a full week of playground duty from
12-12:30, then a week off, week on...
My classes once were 55 minutes long, then 50 minutes, now 45.... is anyone
else feeling the pinch? As our school population grew, the decision was made
to cut the time down to what the music teacher preferred, and to give everyone
the same prep time. Personally, I would rather have longer classes, less prep
time, and be valued as a teacher, not a playground duty person.
Got that off my chest!
