We are not allowed to require anything like the academic planner. But we are
allowed to require a notebook/sketchbook for use in class. I usually get by
with requiring them to bring a no. 2 pencil. But that is all. I am expected to
provide everything else. I am allowed to ask for voluntary donations to the
class of special items. Our local elementary teachers ask students to provide
an incredible list including such things as facial tissue for the classroom. I
don't know if they can continue to do so. But they are probably allowed to
because it is not required. But that is how they beat the system on things
like crayons, markers, poster board, etc. If I do an assignment requiring
poster board I am expected to provide it. I have a good budget so I am not
going to complain. But it seems to me it would be necessary to raise the
taxes. Then everybody is paying not just the parents of school age children.
