Iıve had my students look Chagallıs stained-glass windows. We drew the
shape for the windowıs outside (they varied slightly, but all were
symmetrical). Then they chose a subject matter to be the focal point.
Many chose things they liked: butterflies, flowers, a truck, etc. To keep
it simple, they drew the one object rather large. Similar to stained
glass windows, they then divided up the negative space around the object
using lines, whether straight or curvy.
After this they went over all their lines with black glue ³lead.² Lastly,
we used bright marker colors to carefully color in the spaces. They
turned out gorgeous.
