I think there have been a lot of good comments on the craft thing versus
art and then the cutsie things and Holiday stuff.
I personally never make my student do the so called Holiday stuff, I do
make them do giant paintings of the face of Santa Claus in the style of the
expressionists or the Fauvists, or they might do printmaking cards after
visiting a local printmaker artist. Which by the way I find that parents
have a fairly easy way of relating to if we visit a local artist(usually a
professional one) and then the student work in his style or use the same
theme or such. The history of art is sooooo vaste(large) that you can find
something to do for every Holiday and just not make a "cutsie thing" but
each student makes a work of art and that is much more important. Best
regards from the far north, Rosa
