Ah yes, I too have had this problem and after 28 years still find that even
the new teachers who are hired lack this critical part in their education. I
find that displays were and still are vital in teaching beyond the classroom
and often neglected because it requires committment and work. Student work
reflects the environment and community in which your students live. Theme
displays revolving around an artist or art movement have provided the
community in which I teach valuable resources in gaining insight and
information on the students' art work, as well as, knowledge about art
education and the components. I have always treated student displays as an
art form and I firmly believe this has altered to some degree (though small)
the visibility of student art work. ann
