What I did to go from being a working artist with a BFA to becoming a
classroom teacher is I entered a program here in Connecticut called The
Alternate Route To Certification. It was a very intensive, difficult, course
but in eight weeks I was certified (sort of) to teach. I could at least sign
a contract, and after a few more seminars, and four assessments, I was fully
certified. Many states have these programs, and similar ones, so you might
want to check.
