A couple of weeks ago, the Getty made a post about the problems they are
having. At this time they said two things. First, the subscribe and
unsubscribe messages that are sent to them would appear on our list. They
apologized and said we would need to put up with it for a while, until they
fixed the problem. Second, they said that they had to suspend the digest
format and that everyone would receive the messages one at a time.
I do not know why Sandy is having problems. It also sounds as if others
may be having problems as well, but different problems. Some don't seem to
be getting any mail or haven't realized that the Getty has suspended the
Digest format and the individual mail they receive is from the list. Some
people receive so much mail from a variety of lists, that it is sometimes
difficult to tell one list apart from another. If this is the case, just
look at the headers of your e-mail and you should be able to tell where the
If you would like to express your frustration, you may do so and post it to
the list. It is my understanding that they do read the list to see how
things are going. I am not sure where to send a post anymore if you want
to send just to the Getty and not the list itself. I am not sure their
mail is working correctly. Posting to the list may be the only way we can
get a message to them that we are still having problems.
All of us do understand Sandy's frustration. Let us not get frustrated
with the frustrations of others.
Things will eventually get back to normal....if there is such a
thing.....alas....technology....love it and hate it at the same time. sigh
and happy posting.
