Hi,
If you need an approach fast, focus on an artist & all sorts of
neat stuff can be pulled in. Frida Khalo comes to mind for Hispanic art.
The students love her work. I did a unit on Romare Bearden last year in
Feburary. I found a calendar of his work for the visuals & we focused on
collage, jazz, and his use of imagery.
For Native Americans look up some contemporary Native Am. artist
(Juane Quick to See Smith). Students sometimes loose the connection that
Native Americans are alive today. Studying an artist can give them real
insight into the Native American culture of today.
