Ticia,
I did a high school display case in my room once on looking at
unusual media--"What's It Made Of?" Of course, I used Sandy Skoglund's
hamurger meat, cheeze curls, chewing gum, etc. (we'd just had an exhibit
of her work at Wichita State University), but also I used Christo's
wrapping of mannequins, statues, buildings; artist who plant fields to
look like Van Gogh's sunflowers--the earth as a canvas, earthworks,
collages, etc.
I used the display as a lead in. I had my drawing and painting
students wrap up manneqins with cloth and string, draw them, and paint
them with acrylics.
