The study, entitled A STUDY OF CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS AND WRITING ABILITY
AMONG INDIANA STUDENTS, has officially begun. The Arts Indiana , Inc.
funded study is measuring the effects of its supplementary resource
"Arts Indiana Magazine in the Classroom" on students' critical thinking
skills and writing ability. The study has been endorsed by the National
Center for Education Statistics in Washington, D.C. and approved for access
to validated NAEP writing instruments. 4,000 students and 100 Indiana
teachers in grades 5-12 are in the study. About 2,000 treatment group
members and 2,000 control group members... There is a 25-minute pretest
at the beginning of this semester and a 25 minute posttest at the end of
