His "Artist Beware" is a standard in our school system. He came to our
school at my urging, and evaluated our safety measures. (Of course he got
paid, he is a consultant on safety issues). The day I was in the
operating room, having my cancer removed, is when the school finally put
in the proper ventillation system I had been lobbying for. Thanks to Dr.
McCann's written customized recommendations, we received eyewash
stations, firewall cabinets, and solvent waste containers. (Of course we
are still working on implementing all of his sugestions) Our supply
order is not longer "bid" out by price but but "safety" as well. As a
cancer surviver, I question whether my job helped accelerate the
inevitable, but am confident that I am doing (with the help of my
district, under Dr. McCann's suggestions)all that is possible to prevent
occurance due to art supplies.
