Those stretched out sidewalk drawings are examples of anamorphic are - mirrored cylinders, distorted grids... your kids can do them easily with some planning.
you have probably seen some of the same type of street markings and not known it... it may say 'bike crossing' 'slow'... painted right on the road.... it is all about perspective -
If you take a drawing and put it on a grid - and then stretch the grid, your drawing will become distorted (draw on a balloon and stretch it)... you can draw a grid on the road and let the kids use their original as a map.
