I like Elizabeth Peters too but I prefer the Vickie Bliss novels to Amelia Peabody. Try "Borrower of the Night", which is about Tilman Riemenschneider. "Trojan Gold" about Schlieman, and another about Celtic metalwork (cover shows a piece like the Ardagh chalice).
